A few weeks back I got to see Apollo Suns, a band that I had heard of a bit. Seeing them in person completely rocked me. The showmanship of this group is absolutely incredible, and even if you don’t know the music, they make sure you keep up with the beat within a song or 2. The atmosphere they generate is like nothing else, sorry to all the moshing punk rock and hardcore shows out there.
I think one of the most surprising things, which I hadn’t considered before, is that there is no singing, it’s all instrumental. The way this can pull you in, and captivate you with nothing but tunes and feelings, is amazing. I have been to a lot of high-octane shows with some wild bands, but these guys take the cake. If you want to dance the night away, I recommend you try to catch this group if they come rolling through town. It really can’t be missed.
Shooting at their show was such a blast, and feeding off that energy as a photographer is amazing. I was mostly dancing, and would pause to capture something quick and catch my breath. I had never shot at a show before, but if it is anything like this, I think I want to start doing it more often.
