Do they even exist? I’m not sold on it. Even when you’re not working on things, there’s still stuff floating in the background. During “reading break” I was at a conference and working on school stuff. It’s neverending. But I think it’s also what makes those moments where you can actually relax that much more precious.
I guess my thought here is that you can’t relax if you spend the whole time relaxing just worrying about what you “should” be doing. Should can be such a dangerous word. It carries so much weight and expectation, always dragging you down.
I actually had a great time in Vancouver, and I think taking those moments to savour is so critical. Without it, you might just go mad. And that’s no fun, trust me. Even a few minutes out of the day where you put everything aside and just let yourself rest and let loose, can really make all the difference.
